Chopard Watches

Founded in 1860 in the village of Sonvilier, Chopard celebrates more than a century and a half of existence. A jubilee dedicated watchmaking division of the brand.

Diamonds and fancy movements

Famous for its watches woman in high color, Happy Diamonds, Chopard is out to conquer the male market by creating, in 1996, his own watch manufactory in Fleurier (Switzerland). And templates that come out are of excellent quality.

The story begins in 1963 when German jewelers, Karl and Karin Scheufele, bought the Swiss watch brand Chopard founded in 186o by Louis-Ulysse Chopard ¬. In less than thirty years, the couple transformed the small Swiss company into a global brand awareness. The origin of this success, a model created in 1976 by Ronald Kurowski, then designer in society. His idea: design a watch in which it would be sown between the dial and glass rained mobile diamonds. The first Happy Diamonds born.Very seventies, it features a double barrel housing and onyx dial sated thirty brilliant that at the slightest movement, dance in the dial. It is designed for men who then did not disdain to wear endiamantées their wrists watches. Today, the Happy Diamonds dropped the man to the woman, with hundreds of exclusive female models, mixing and watches since 1979, jewelry, Chopard has made the concept a worldwide success that raid a significant portion of its turnover. Models are quartz submit each year moult variations on the same theme (Happy Sport, Happy Spirit, etc..).
Second step: Chopard bring in the private club of traditional luxury watchmaking. Until then, with the exception of the Mille Miglia collection (chronographs designed each year to the racing colors of the same name), his menswear collections lacked consistency in form and in substance with templates purchased ETA Jaeger-LeCoultre and Frederic Piguet. In 1996, the brand decided to open a factory in Fleurier in order to develop its own movements. And after four years of development and four million Swiss francs investment, she released her first album: LUC Calibre 1.96, a double barrel automatic movement with a power reserve of more than seventy-five hours. Recognition is the appointment: LUC 1.96 shows elected in 1997 shows the year in Switzerland. In 2000, Chopard innovates by launching its first mechanical movement with manual winding, the LUC Quattro team of four cylinders and with a power reserve of nine days. And piles up again the following year by designing the LUC Tonneau, the first watch in the world with an automatic movement form with a microrotor.
Today, the factory has developed a half-dozen house which almost all are certified by the COSC templates. Among the most notable models include the stylish Quattro Regulator which display "controller" type (the minute hand is separated from the hour) doubles as a time zone and a date window. Or the LUC Lunar One, launched in 2005 shows:automatic perpetual calendar with moon phase orbital which varies only a day hundred twenty-two years. In 2009, the Lunar appears in a simplified display with large date at noon and a small second version in a limited edition of five hundred copies (€ 19,500). View as well, the LUC Chrono One, launched in 2006: the first chronograph manufacturing, this automatic caliber with column wheel and displays a fly-back function (26,570 rose gold). Manufacturing has also released its vortex: it is half skeleton and four barrels. This is one of the few on the market with a power reserve of nine days and whose accuracy is certified by the COSC.
